Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Defence Minister-Designate, has pledged to strengthen the bond between Ghana’s security agencies through joint training sessions and recreational activities. This initiative aims to foster a sense of unity and cooperation among the Ghana Armed Forces and other security agencies.

During his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Dr. Omane Boamah expressed concern about the growing trend of assigning military personnel to tasks traditionally handled by the police. He believes this could create a perception of superiority among security agencies, leading to unnecessary rivalry and clashes.

To address this issue, Dr. Omane Boamah proposes organizing joint training programs and recreational activities to enhance socialization and reduce inter-agency competition. “The more we allow them to interface, the more we’ll be able to limit clashes and eliminate them,” he emphasized.

While acknowledging the commendable collaboration among Ghana’s security agencies, Dr. Omane Boamah recognizes that there is room for improvement. By promoting unity and cooperation, he aims to create a more cohesive and effective security force that serves the nation’s best interests.
