President John Dramani Mahama has removed Rev. Daniel Ogbarmey Tetteh from his position as Director-General of the Ghana Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The announcement was made through an official letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, the Executive Secretary to the President.

Rev. Ogbarmey Tetteh, a seasoned investment banker with over 20 years of experience, has been instructed to hand over his duties to Dr. James Klutse Avedzi, who will serve as the Acting Director-General of the SEC. The reasons behind the dismissal were not stated in the letter, but the Commission is expected to ensure stability in Ghana’s capital markets under Dr. Avedzi’s leadership.

Rev. Ogbarmey Tetteh’s tenure as Director-General was marked by his efforts to promote financial literacy and regulate the securities industry in Ghana. He was also the Chairman of the West Africa Securities Regulators Association (WASRA) and the Ghana Investments and Securities Institute. The sudden change in leadership has raised questions about the future direction of the SEC and its impact on Ghana’s capital markets.
