OKUDZETO Ablakwa Meets Ghana’s Longest Serving Foreign Minister: A Masterclass in Diplomacy

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), had the privilege of visiting and consulting with Dr. Obed Yao Asamoah, Ghana’s longest serving Foreign Minister. The 89-year-old statesman, who served under President Rawlings from 1981 to 1997, shared his wealth of experience and insights with Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Mr. Asamoah’s remarkable career spanned 16 years, during which he held the unique distinction of being both Foreign Minister and Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa was deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn from the veteran diplomat, describing their meeting as a “masterclass” in diplomacy.

Their discussion also touched on President Mahama’s foreign policy objectives, with Asamoah expressing confidence in the President’s ability to succeed. Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa left the meeting inspired and motivated, acknowledging the significant contributions of outstanding patriots like Asamoah, who have paved the way for the younger generation.
