President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Sylvester Adinam Mensah as the new Acting CEO of the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM). This move is aimed at boosting Ghana’s export-led economy. Mensah’s wealth of experience in finance, public service, and strategy makes him an ideal candidate to spearhead GEXIM’s mission.

As the former CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority, Mensah successfully reformed and expanded the scheme, enhancing its efficiency. He also served as Head of Public Sector Banking at Intercontinental Bank (Ghana) Ltd., where he developed credit risk frameworks and provided strategic investment advice to public sector clients.

Mensah’s responsibilities at GEXIM will include facilitating Ghana’s transformation into an export-driven economy, enhancing trade between Ghana and other nations, supporting overseas investments by Ghanaian businesses, and addressing market inefficiencies to bolster the country’s global competitiveness.

With over 20 years of experience in corporate strategy, strategic management, and execution, Mensah is well-equipped to drive Ghana’s export agenda and foster economic transformation. His academic background in finance, strategy, and governance, including a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ghana Business School and an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester, UK, further solidifies his credentials for the role.
