Benjamin Nsiah, Executive Director of the Center for Environmental Management and Sustainable Energy (CEMSE), has urged the newly appointed heads of the Petroleum Commission and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to review existing regulations hindering investments in the sector. Nsiah emphasized the need for these institutions to prioritize their core mandates for better efficiency and sector growth.
In an interview with Energy News, Nsiah called on Mrs. Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle, the new Chief Executive of the Petroleum Commission, to focus on boosting investments and promoting healthy relationships between industry players. He also tasked her with resolving unitization issues to ensure benefits for all stakeholders.
Additionally, Nsiah urged Mr. Edward Bawa, the new Chief Executive of GNPC, to ensure proper utilization of the company’s funds towards projects aligned with its core mandate of exploring, discovering, and producing oil.
Nsiah’s recommendations aim to ensure a robust and thriving downstream petroleum sector in Ghana. His expertise in energy policy analysis and environmental management makes him a valuable voice in shaping the country’s energy future.
