Today, Friday, January 24, 2025, Ghana laid to rest one of its most beloved actors, Albert Odartei Jackson-Davis. The veteran actor passed away in September 2024 after battling an undisclosed illness, leaving behind a legacy of incredible performances on screen.
Jackson-Davis was a household name in Ghana, known for his powerful roles in films like Beasts of No Nation (2015), The Storm (2024), My Very Ghanaian Wedding (2017), and Chasing Lullaby. His contributions to the Ghanaian film industry were immense, and his passing has left a significant void.
The actor’s body was laid in state on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at his family house in James Town, Accra, allowing fans and colleagues to pay their respects. The burial service took place at the Cathedral Church of The Most Holy Trinity, followed by a private burial ceremony.
Jackson-Davis’s impact extended beyond the screen. In the 1990s, he served as the Deputy Executive Director for PANAFEST, the Pan African Historical Theatre Festival, contributing significantly to its cultural prominence. His leadership helped position the festival as a beacon for cultural revival and creative expression.
Colleagues in the creative arts industry attended the funeral to bid farewell to their beloved peer. As Ghana mourns the loss of this incredible talent, his legacy will continue to inspire and influence the country’s film industry. May his soul rest in peace.
