A misleading video circulating on social media has prompted the Electoral Commission (EC) to set the record straight. The video in question falsely claims that EC-branded bags containing ballot papers for destruction actually hold smuggled dollars from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

However, the EC has clarified that the video is a doctored version of the actual destruction of ballot papers for the Ahafo and Volta regions. The original video, which was publicly available, showed the destruction of ballot papers due to serialization issues. The process was carried out by Zoomlion under the supervision of the EC, with media representatives present to ensure transparency.
The EC has assured the public that the claims made in the misleading video are entirely false. Certificates of destruction and the original video are available to support the truth. The Commission urges the public to disregard the false claims and maintain confidence in the electoral process .
