Ghana’s Parliament has given the green light to President John Dramani Mahama’s first set of ministerial nominees. The approved ministers include Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance, John Jinapor as Minister for Energy, and Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister for Justice.

The approval process involved a thorough vetting by the Appointments Committee on January 13, 2025, which assessed the nominees’ qualifications, experience, and plans for their new roles. After submitting their report to Parliament, a debate ensued, focusing on the nominees’ abilities to address the country’s challenges.

Both the Majority and Minority caucuses acknowledged the nominees’ competence and ability to lead their respective ministries, paving the way for their approval. This development marks a significant step in President Mahama’s efforts to form a strong team to deliver on his government’s priorities.
