Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Ghana’s immediate past Finance Minister, has earned high praise from Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In a farewell letter, Georgieva commended Adam’s exceptional leadership and significant contributions to Ghana’s economic stability during his tenure.
Adam’s commitment to implementing Ghana’s $3 billion IMF-supported program was particularly noteworthy, playing a crucial role in restoring macroeconomic stability, ensuring debt sustainability, and fostering inclusive growth amidst challenging economic times.
The IMF boss also acknowledged Adam’s instrumental role in positioning Ghana for long-term growth, praising his leadership during IMF-backed reforms that positively impacted Ghana’s financial outlook. Georgieva expressed confidence that Adam’s duties as a legislator would continue to drive meaningful changes in governance and economic policies in Ghana.
Under Adam’s leadership, Ghana made significant strides in economic development. He was instrumental in releasing funds for the completion of the Kumasi International Airport and presented the mid-year fiscal policy review to Parliament. His commitment to data-driven policymaking and investment in quality data systems also earned recognition.
