The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed deep concern over alleged attacks on Tema Port workers by individuals claimed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). At a press conference, Deputy Majority Leader Patricia Appiagyei condemned the violence, stating that the NPP has seen disturbing videos of NDC supporters storming the Tema Port, attempting to seize control and replace non-NDC members with party loyalists.

Appiagyei emphasized that such actions undermine the professionalism and neutrality of public institutions, setting a dangerous precedent for partisan control of state resources. She highlighted that recent weeks have seen coordinated acts of violence, intimidation, and anarchy by NDC loyalists, leaving citizens and institutions under siege.

The situation is further complicated by events in Koforidua, where NDC supporters have locked up offices and besieged premises of national institutions, including the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), and National Service Scheme (NSS). The NDC supporters claim they are retaliating against alleged NPP actions in 2017.

The NPP has called on the NDC to restrain its supporters and prevent further violence. However, the NDC has condemned vandalism and looting amidst the 2024 election violence, indicating a complex and contentious situation.
