The battle for the Ablekuma North parliamentary seat has taken a dramatic turn, with NPP candidate Nana Akua Afriyie vehemently opposing the Electoral Commission’s proposed re-run of three outstanding polling stations. Afriyie claims to have won the results from all 281 pink sheets, which she has presented to the EC, and accuses the NDC of attempting to manipulate the results by altering figures on photocopies of the pink sheets.

Afriyie alleges that the NDC requested a re-run, claiming the three outstanding polling stations are their strongholds. However, she remains resolute in her opposition to a re-run, citing the significant investment she has made in her campaign. “I will never agree to a re-run, today or tomorrow,” she stated emphatically.

The situation took a chaotic turn when Afriyie accused NDC parliamentary candidate Ewurabena of instructing her supporters to take to the streets, causing chaos and destruction. The police and military intervened to restore order.

As the re-collation of the Ablekuma North results remains delayed, Afriyie has made it clear that the NPP will resist any attempts by the NDC to divide the constituents or undermine the will of the people. The Electoral Commission’s office witnessed another chaotic scene, further delaying the declaration of the winner of the parliamentary seat in the December 7 election. Ewurabena Aubynn has countered Afriyie’s claims, accusing her of playing manipulative games to hold on to power.
