Accra, Ghana, was abuzz with excitement as John Dramani Mahama was sworn in as the country’s president, marking a significant milestone in Ghana’s history. According to Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Director of Elections and Information Technology for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), this new administration is poised to deliver meaningful change and restore integrity and honor to the presidency.

Dr. Omane Boamah expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to drive positive change, highlighting the significance of Mahama’s presidency, particularly with Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang by his side. “I believe John Mahama and Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s presidency signals a restoration of dignity and integrity to the presidency,” he stated.

The inauguration ceremony, held at Independence Square (Black Stars Square), was attended by thousands of jubilant citizens, who waved flags, blew vuvuzelas, and danced to traditional drum beats. Many African leaders, including President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, and President William Ruto of Kenya, were also in attendance.

Mahama’s vision for Ghana includes transforming the country into a 24-hour economy, leveraging agriculture and agribusiness to stimulate local industries and create jobs. With his pledge to maintain a round-the-clock commitment to addressing the country’s pressing issues, Ghanaians are hopeful that this new administration will bring about the change they desire.
