Residents of Kpando Torkor and surrounding communities are celebrating the return of their ferry, which broke down three months ago. The ferry, a vital link across the Volta Lake, had been out of service, forcing residents to rely on smaller, overcrowded boats that posed significant safety risks.

For three months, traders and farmers struggled to transport goods to markets across the lake, disrupting economic activities. However, with the ferry now operational, residents have expressed immense satisfaction with the return of safe and reliable transportation.

Joshua Amenyogbe, the Assembly member for the Kpando Torkor electoral area, is grateful for the ferry’s return but emphasizes the need for more proactive measures to avoid similar disruptions in the future. He appealed to the government to establish a maintenance workshop at Kpando Torkor to ensure quicker repairs whenever the ferry breaks down.

Amenyogbe also requested the government to build a new landing port, as the existing one has submerged, making life unbearable for residents. He expressed his gratitude to key stakeholders, including Channel One TV and Citi FM, for their consistent reporting on the issue, which yielded positive results.
