Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress, has donated $7,500 to cover the cost of surgery for a boy suffering from a hole in the heart. Patnam Kantam, the boy, has been admitted to the National Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he awaits surgery.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s donation also included GHC5,000 cash to Patnam’s parents to support his upkeep after the surgery. The family had been struggling to raise funds for the surgery, but thanks to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s donation, they can now focus on their son’s recovery.
The Director of the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Dr. Kow Entsua-Mensah, praised Prof. Opoku-Agyemang for her donation, saying that her visit to the Centre was a testament to her concern for children in Ghana. Patnam’s father, Mr. Abdul Majeed Kantam, also expressed his gratitude to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang.
