The Electoral Commission of Ghana has issued a statement addressing concerns about shortfalls in ballot papers dispatched to the Bono and Volta Regions. According to the Commission, the discrepancies were discovered by their staff at the regional level, who conducted a thorough review and verification of the ballot papers to ensure their accuracy.
As part of their transparency and accountability arrangements, the Commission has notified the political parties to ensure that their agents observe the reprinting of the shortfalls of ballot papers and the destruction of faulty ballot papers. The Commission has also informed the public that similar shortfalls and discrepancies were discovered in other regions, including Greater Accra, Western North, Upper West, and Western Regions.
The Electoral Commission emphasized that it has nothing to hide and is committed to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the electoral process. By informing the political parties and the public about the shortfalls and the corrective actions being taken, the Commission is demonstrating its commitment to transparency and accountability.
