President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commissioned four out of five 40-bed District Hospitals in the Ashanti region on Monday, November 25, 2024. The hospitals are located in Drobonso, Sabronum, Twedie, and Suame.
The construction of these hospitals is part of a larger project initiated in 2020 by the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, to build 12 40-bed hospitals in Ashanti, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions, as well as a polyclinic in Mim, Brong Ahafo region.
The hospitals were constructed by VAMED Engineering GmbH of Austria, with funding from a €71,500,000 Euro facility secured from Erste Group Bank AG and Česká Spořitelna a.s. Each hospital includes 12 units of 2-bedroom semi-detached accommodation for hospital workers.
The hospitals are equipped with modern facilities, including an Out-Patient Department, Public Health Department, theatre, and various wards. President Akufo-Addo urged the staff and the people of the areas to ensure that the facilities are adequately administered and maintained.
The commissioning of these hospitals marks a significant step towards improving healthcare infrastructure in Ghana. With these new facilities, residents in the Ashanti region can expect improved access to quality healthcare services.
