Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Majority Leader, strongly criticized Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to adjourn Parliament indefinitely, calling it an act that “supervises chaos” and undermines Ghana’s democratic processes. The adjournment was due to a lack of business, caused by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) members’ absence, resulting from a procedural dispute.
Afenyo-Markin clarified that the NPP’s absence wasn’t due to negligence but a disagreement over the Clerk’s failure to print the necessary Order Paper. This oversight prevented the session from proceeding, leading to misinterpretation of the NPP’s commitment.
