Akuapem Adontenhene and Aburihene, Otobour Gyan Kwasi, has expressed deep disappointment over the neglect of the iconic Aburi Botanical Gardens by successive governments. Once a cornerstone of Ghana’s tourism sector, the gardens have fallen into disrepair, receiving little attention or investment.

Otobour Gyan Kwasi emphasized the gardens’ cultural significance and potential to thrive as a hub for local and international visitors. He also raised concerns about the financial implications of this neglect, noting that local chiefs receive no royalties from the gardens’ revenue.

Additionally, Otobour Gyan Kwasi called for the expansion of the Aburi-Nsawam road, citing increased traffic congestion and safety risks. The Municipal Chief Executive, Frank Aidoo, also urged residents to maintain calm and avoid electoral violence, emphasizing the importance of peace during the election period.

Traditional leaders and local officials are pushing for proactive measures to preserve the gardens’ cultural heritage, improve infrastructure, and ensure community peace.
