Throughout the day, the volunteers, all proudly wearing specially designed t-shirts with “Ewe Association of Metropolitan Chicago” boldly printed on them, rolled up their sleeves and got to work. They meticulously bagged food for distribution to the needy. Fifteen dedicated volunteers from the Ewe Association came together for a remarkable day of service. Over the course of three hours, each volunteer impressively packed 288 meals, resulting in a grand total of 4,320 meals ready for those in need. Each bag packed symbolized hope and sustenance for families facing food insecurity.
Their efforts were a testament to the power of collective action and the difference it can make in the lives of others.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, traditional Ewe music, borborbor, played in the background, filling the air with rhythmic melodies that celebrated their rich cultural heritage. This musical backdrop energized the volunteers and brought joy and unity to the task.

In addition to their hands-on volunteer work, the Ewe Association of Metropolitan Chicago also donated $1,500 to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. This financial contribution will go a long way in supporting the facility’s ongoing mission to combat hunger and provide nutritious food to those in need.

“The spirit of volunteerism and philanthropy is deeply ingrained in our association’s values,” Donatus Kotogbor conveyed. The Vice-President of the Association, Aurelia Ationu, also stated, “Collaborating with the Greater Chicago Food Depository is an honor, as we dedicate our time and resources to support their significant efforts. Together, we can bring about substantial change within our community.”

An official from the Greater Chicago Food Depository expressed deep gratitude for the association’s support: “The Ewe Association of Metropolitan Chicago has shown remarkable dedication and generosity. Their contribution will help us continue our work in providing daily meals to thousands individuals and families who rely on our services.”
