The 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) came to a close on Saturday, October 26, in Apia, Samoa, after a week of intense discussions and collaborative efforts. Under the theme “One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth,” leaders from 56 nations gathered to reaffirm their commitment to tackling pressing global challenges .
The meeting focused on addressing economic, environmental, and security issues, while exploring innovative ways to enhance resilience, promote sustainable trade, and foster inclusive growth. Empowering youth and women was a recurring theme throughout the discussions, emphasizing the importance of equality and representation in building a resilient future.
Key events during CHOGM 2024 included:
- Women’s Forum:- Highlighting women’s contributions and identifying policies to advance gender equality and peace.
- Youth Forum:- Providing a platform for young people to address issues impacting their future
- People’s Forum:- Engaging leaders with global development issues and ensuring diverse voices are heard

The meeting concluded with Antigua and Barbuda being announced as the incoming Chair-in-Office and Host Country for the next CHOGM, marking a significant milestone in the Commonwealth’s continued efforts towards collective progress.
