A five-member delegation from the Council of State, led by Chairman Nana Otuo Siribuor, met with Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin to discuss the recent adjournment of the House.
After deliberations, the Council assured Speaker Bagbin of their readiness to assist in resolving the impasse, paving the way for Parliament’s recall. Speaker Bagbin briefed the delegation on the situation and reaffirmed his commitment to Ghana’s democracy and its people.
The Council praised Speaker Bagbin’s handling of the legislature and his leadership in parliamentary organizations, including the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association International and the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislatures.
Nana Otuo Siribuor encouraged Speaker Bagbin to continue his work, benefiting Ghana and its people. Speaker Bagbin will lead the Ghanaian delegation to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association International Conference in Australia, from November 3-8.
Due to requests from MPs to recall Parliament, Speaker Bagbin plans to return to Ghana earlier than expected. His office has initiated processes for a recall in early November. Speaker Bagbin was re-elected as President of the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislatures.
