Today, Ghana joins the global community in commemorating the 79th anniversary of the United Nations, emphasizing the crucial need for collective action towards peace and sustainable development. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, in collaboration with the UN Office in Ghana, has organized a series of events to mark this milestone.

A Peace Walk on October 19 preceded today’s State House Forecourt celebrations, featuring a flag-raising ceremony, photo exhibition and Model UN General Assembly Session. The theme, “Working Together Towards Peace and Sustainable Development,” highlights diplomacy, conflict resolution and development.

Ghana, a UN Security Council member from 2022-2023, championed global peace, security and sustainable development, particularly in Africa. The country continues promoting conflict prevention, post-conflict reconstruction and multilateralism.

The UN’s Ghana presence fosters partnerships with government, civil society, development partners and private sector, advancing national priorities and Sustainable Development Goals.

UN achievements and local activities were showcased through media engagements since October 21.
