Defending the Fourth Estate: Standing Against Despots and Power-Hungry Leaders… Sankofaonline.com News Commentary

In the annals of history, one tactic remains consistent among despots and power-hungry leaders: their relentless assault on the media. By clipping the wings of the press, they seek to control the narrative, suppress dissent, and consolidate their power. This age-old strategy is a direct threat to democracy and freedom, and it is one we must vehemently oppose.

The media, often referred to as the Fourth Estate, plays a crucial role in holding leaders accountable, exposing corruption, and giving a voice to the voiceless. When leaders attack the media, they are not just silencing journalists; they are undermining the very foundation of a free and open society. They aim to create an environment where only their version of the truth prevails, stifling any opposition or criticism.

In this day and age, we cannot and will not allow such tactics to succeed. The digital era has empowered citizens with unprecedented access to information and platforms to express their views. Social media, independent news outlets, and citizen journalism have become powerful tools in the fight against tyranny. We must leverage these tools to ensure that the truth is heard and that those who seek to silence it are held accountable.

The battle for a free press is not just the responsibility of journalists; it is a collective duty. We must support and protect those who risk their lives to report the truth. We must demand transparency and accountability from our leaders. And we must remain vigilant against any attempts to erode our freedoms.

As we stand united against the forces that seek to undermine the media, let us remember that the pen is mightier than the sword. In the face of oppression, our resolve to defend the truth must be unwavering. Together, we can ensure that the light of journalism continues to shine brightly, illuminating the path to justice and freedom for all.

The Enemy Within: A Tale of Conflict and Contradiction

The phrase “the enemy within” epitomizes the turmoil that can exist within an organization, where unity is shattered by dissent and contradiction. Imagine a situation where a collective decision to impose term limits on chiefs and queens is deemed foolish by a select few, even after initially embracing it. Meanwhile, these detractors remain conspicuously silent on the issue of patrilineal inheritance—a deeply revered tradition integral to our heritage.

In another instance, the enemy within vehemently opposes a sensible decision to not retain ten percent of donations made to association members during times of bereavement. When defeated, they leave the committee in a fit of anger, showcasing their resistance to the collective will.

This internal adversaries also refuses to accept that former leaders no longer represent the association officially . They ardently fight to prioritize seating these same former leaders over current ones, blatantly disregarding established protocols. Ironically, they extend recognition to chiefs, queens, and leaders from other associations while ignoring the constitutional arrangements within their own organization.

Their grievances are endless, including complaints about not seeing their own pictures published, even when their actions have disgraced others by seating them inappropriately. Their concerns are always self-centered. The enemy within operates under the belief that their knowledge is supreme, and any exercise of constitutional rights by others is seen as an affront.

This character embodies unapologetic supporters of autocracy within a democratic setting. They must learn to respect others’ constitutional rights and adhere to the constitution’s principles to foster peace and harmony within the community.

    A word to the wise….

In conclusion, the enemy within is a complex figure whose actions undermine unity and progress. Addressing this internal conflict requires a commitment to respecting established rules, promoting democratic values, and embracing the collective spirit for the betterment of all. Only then can the community move forward in harmony.

  2. When you silence members, this is the result. It appears that some meetings are staged to let certain voices be heard while others are deliberately silenced .

  3. The president Carol and Dr had a meeting b4 coming to the meeting . It was planned . Dr keep talking as if we are kids. Since he came he kept supporting the wrong things.
