Leading telecommunications company, AT (formerly AirtelTigo), has marked the 20th anniversary of 37 Military Hospital’s Pediatric Sickle Cell Unit with a GH¢20,000 donation. The funds will support awareness initiatives, research, and improved care for patients battling the hereditary blood disorder.
AT CEO, Leo Skarlatos, emphasized the company’s commitment to making a lasting difference in the lives of those affected by sickle cell disease. “We believe in leveraging our resources to support critical causes,” he said.
Dr. Sheilla Asamoah Okyere, Head of the Pediatric Sickle Cell Unit, expressed gratitude for the donation, which will enable the unit to expand its reach, subsidize treatment costs, and invest in public education.
The donation will also support genetic counseling programs, research, and community outreach initiatives. A poignant moment during the ceremony saw 10-year-old patient Amina thank AT and hospital staff for their unwavering support.
