Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia welcomed former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to the Jubilee House, on Monday, October 7, 2024, as Jonathan led a delegation from the West African Elders Forum (WAEF) on a pre-election mission to Ghana.
The WAEF, an initiative of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, focuses on promoting democracy, peace, and security in the sub-region. Jonathan’s delegation included Kadre Desire Quadraago, former President of the ECOWAS Commission.
Dr. Bawumia reiterated Ghana’s commitment to a peaceful election process, ensuring the preservation of peace and harmony in the country. Ghana is renowned as one of the most peaceful nations in the sub-region.
The meeting emphasized the significance of maintaining stability during Ghana’s upcoming elections. As a respected regional leader, Jonathan’s involvement through the WAEF underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting peaceful democratic processes.
Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015 ¹, has continued to play a key role in regional peace and democracy initiatives. His foundation’s work through the WAEF demonstrates a sustained commitment to promoting harmony and cooperation across West Africa.
