Acclaimed investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has thrown his weight behind thousands of Ghanaian youth protesting the devastating effects of illegal mining, also known as galamsey.
In a show of solidarity, Anas took to social media to express his support for the courageous youth, stating, “I stand in solidarity with the thousands of Ghanaian youth protesting illegal mining and its destruction of our water bodies. Your courage inspires me.”
Anas acknowledged the potential intimidation that may arise but urged the protesters to remain bold and united in their quest to defend Ghana’s natural resources.
“Ghana deserves better,” Anas emphasized, echoing the sentiments of the protesters.
The #StopGalamseyNow movement has gained momentum, with citizens from various walks of life joining forces to demand action against the destructive practice.
As the youth continue to voice their concerns, Anas’s endorsement serves as a significant boost to the movement.
With the nation’s water bodies and forests under threat, the collective call to action resonates loudly: it’s time for Ghana to take a stand against galamsey and protect its future.
