Accra, Ghana – The second edition of “A Day with the Diplomatic Community” came to a close with a thrilling display of sportsmanship, cultural exchange, and fun. The event, held at the Ghana Armed Forces Sports Complex, saw participants from various diplomatic missions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration engage in a wide range of sporting activities.
The games were kick-started by Hon. Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey with a penalty shoot, followed by a series of events including football, track and field, basketball, and lawn tennis. Other activities like table tennis, volleyball, and board games kept participants entertained throughout the day.
Children were also treated to a fun-filled afternoon with face painting, bouncy castles, swimming, and exciting games. The event culminated in an awards ceremony where winners received medals and trophies for their achievements.
The cultural exchange aspect of the event was highlighted by a sumptuous spread of cuisines from 14 countries, including Australia, China, Colombia, and Ghana. Participants savored the flavors of international dishes, further solidifying the bonds of friendship and cooperation among the diplomatic community.
The success of this event underscores the importance of cultural exchange and sports diplomacy in fostering global understanding and cooperation.
