Southwark, London – In a significant drug smuggling case, four men have been found guilty of attempting to smuggle £4.5 million worth of cannabis into the UK. The illicit drugs were concealed in sacks of Gari powder and shipped from Ghana to south Essex.

The substantial haul was uncovered by border force officers at Tilbury Docks, following a meticulous sting operation conducted by the National Crime Agency. The discovery was made inside a shipping container, leading to the arrest and subsequent trial of the suspects.

The convicted individuals, Daniel Yeboah, 54, Kristoffen Baidoo, 48, Kwaku Bonsu, 52, all from London, and Edward Adjei, 48, from Grays, faced a three-week trial at Southwark Crown Court. Today, the jury found them guilty of the charges.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug smuggling and protect the borders from illegal activities. The successful operation underscores the importance of vigilance and cooperation among international and local authorities in tackling such crimes.
