GFA Stadium Inspection: Only Four Venues Meet Requirements Ahead of Premier League Season

The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Club Licensing Department has completed its stadium review for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, with only four venues receiving full approval. After conducting inspections from August 8 to August 21, 2024, the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Dun’s Park, and WAFA Park met all infrastructure requirements.

Notably, the newly inaugurated $16 million TNA Stadium, despite its 13,000-capacity, failed to gain full approval due to the absence of an inner perimeter. This omission has prevented the stadium from receiving complete accreditation.

Furthermore, the country’s two largest stadiums, Baba Yara Stadium and Accra Sports Stadium, are on the conditional approval list. A re-inspection is scheduled for August 30, 2024, to address deficiencies and potentially secure full approval.

With the Ghana Premier League set to commence on September 6, 2024, the outcomes of this re-inspection are crucial. The GFA’s strict adherence to infrastructure requirements ensures a safe and competitive environment for players and spectators alike. As the season approaches, fans eagerly await the resolution of these stadium issues, hoping for a successful and exciting Ghana Premier League season.
