In a region where critical issues like democracy, refugees, and climate change dominate the headlines, a new generation of media entrepreneurs is rising to the challenge. IJNet Arabic’s Mentoring Center for Media Startups has played a pivotal role in nurturing these innovators, providing guidance, resources, and networking opportunities to help them thrive.
Over the past decade, the Mentoring Center has supported nearly 80 media entrepreneurs in the Middle East and North Africa, including the eight talented individuals in its 10th cohort. With the help of experienced mentors and a comprehensive program, these entrepreneurs have developed sustainable news platforms, formed strategic partnerships, and created impactful content that addresses the region’s most pressing concerns.
From climate journalism training to fact-checking initiatives, and from podcasts on women’s issues to solutions journalism projects, the Mentoring Center’s mentees have demonstrated remarkable creativity and dedication. As they continue to grow and evolve, they are poised to make a lasting impact on the region’s media landscape.
