Ali Adolf Mborida, the Northern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has raised doubts about the competence of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to lead Ghana. Speaking at the NDC’s campaign launch in Tamale on July 27, Mboridacriticized the NPP for its economic mismanagement and questioned Bawumia’s capability to steer the country.
Responding to Dr. Bawumia’s previous comment that he was the “Driver’s mate and not the Driver,” Mborida said, “We are suffering because our very own brother Bawumia has totally destroyed the economy…Bawumia says give me the steer, does he have a license?”
Mborida emphasized the readiness of the Northern Region and the entire country for change, expressing confidence in the NDC’s victory in the upcoming elections. “North is ready for change; the whole country is ready for change and Insha Allah come December 7, we are going to see the change we want in favour of John Mahama,” he asserted.
National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi also spoke at the event, predicting a shift in government in the 2024 general election. He attributed this anticipated change to the perceived incompetence of the Akufo-Addo administration. “Change is coming, are you ready for change,” Gyamfi declared.
