The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has outlined his new mining policies to stakeholders in Jirapa, Sissala East and West Constituencies.
During his engagements with Chiefs, youth and stakeholders, Bawumia announced plans to establish a Mining Development Bank.
He also pledged to resource the Geological Survey Department to undertake major exploration.
Additionally, Bawumia committed to ensuring 100% Ghanaian ownership of proven reserves earmarked for small-scale mining.
He further announced plans to establish plant pools in mining areas and decentralize the mining licensing regime to all mining districts.
Bawumia also promised to promote licensed community mining schemes to create jobs and wealth for Ghanaians.
The policies are aimed at ensuring Ghana benefits more from its mining activities.
