Asante Kotoko emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against Hearts of Oak, securing a 2-1 win on Wednesday night to lift the inaugural Democracy Cup trophy.
The match at Accra Sports Stadium saw Asante Kotoko’s experienced midfielder Justice Blay convert a penalty in the first half, giving the Porcupine Warriors the lead. Despite Hearts of Oak equalizing through new signing Asamoah Boateng Afriyie’s header, Asante Kotoko clinched the victory with a fantastic goal from Peter Amidu.
This win marks the third triumph for the Porcupine Warriors over the Phobians this year.
