Rev. Dr. Canon Robert Kofi Koomson Passes On

Almost a year after suffering stroke in Chicago and left for Ghana to stay and recuperate, the news of Rev. Dr. Robert Kofi Koomson’s death was announced in the Ghanaian community here by the Council of the Ghanaian Churches’ President, Reverend Dr. Kofi Noonoo.

Reverend Koomson was once the Resident Pastor of the Church of the Ghanaian Community of Chicago and also a pastor at the Grace Episcopal Church,Senior Pastor of the Amazon Grace Ministries International and President of the Center for Theological Studies at Evanston, IL

He is survived by his wife , children and grandchildren.

Death has laid its icy hands on a Mighty Man of God!

With the uttermost sorrow, we announce the passing into eternity today, July 9, 2020, of Rev. Dr. Canon Robert Kofi Koomson at the Okomfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana. He was 79 years old. He would have been 80 in December.

He was a distinguished humble man of God and a powerful advocate of the Word. Among others, Rev. Dr. Koomson served as the Senior Pastor of the Amazon Grace Ministries International and President of the Center for Theological Studies at Evanston, IL. He was also Pastor of the Church of the Ghanaian Community at Hyde Park and an executive member of the Council of Ghanaian Churches.

He will be remembered for his immense contributions towards the spiritual well-being of Ghanaians in converting hundreds to Christ and mentoring several others to become pastors, ministers, elders, and leaders of churches and ministries.

We are confident that Angels of God would appear at the Gate of Heaven to receive him in the following words: “Welcome Home to Eternal Rest; Well Done, Worthy servant.”   

Rest in peace, brother Rev. Koomson.
