November 4, 2023, Chicago, Illinois: Members of the Ghanaian community paid a glowing tribute in honor of Benjamin Tetteh Lartey, who passed on to glory a few weeks ago. He was 80. Ben was one of the founding fathers of the Ghana National Council, GNC, and the Gadangme Community organization here. He was a great example of leadership driven by values, selfless principles, and the truth. Without his vision, focus, and personal dedication, the GNC’s journey to become the organization it is today would have been much more difficult. He and others provided the strong voice needed for checks and balances on the council.
Ben Lartey was a dynamic member of the Presbyterian Church, Redemption Congregation in Chicago. Rev. Dr. Nana Yaw Amponsah Antwi , Minister-in-Charge , gave a homily with the theme, “Materialism: Naked we came, Naked we shall leave” … 1 Timothy 6:6-11. He admonished the bereaved and sympathizers to stop prioritizing monetary issues in their lives and rather embrace Jesus the Christ as their Savior and Lord. He concluded by promising the faithful that when Jesus is put first in one’s life, all other blessings in life shall follow.
Members of the Men’s Fellowship respectfully took turns to stand guard by the casket in honor of their fallen member .
Ben left five children, a wife, and others to cherish his memory.
We bring to our worldwide audience pictures of the event .
