July 8, 2023, Lemont, Illinois: All roads in the Ghanaian community in the Chicago Metropolis led to the Crystal Grand Banquets, 12416 S. Archer Avenue, Lemont, Illinois, 60439 .
The colorful processions of chiefs and Queens, traditional priests and priestesses in their beautiful and rich regalia, and spellbinding cultural performances marked this year’s Fetu Afahye festival celebration here. The annual event organized by the Fante Benevolent Society, FBS, of Metropolitan Chicago is one of the unique cultural Treasures Ghanaian immigrants celebrate in the Chicago metropolis. The distinctive cultural exposition, Themed “Healthcare Sustainability: Supporting Central Region Hospitals,” was also used to raise funds to support Healthcare facilities in Ghana’s central Region.
The Fetu Afahye festival is an annual festival celebrated by the people and chiefs of Cape Coast Traditional Area in the Central Region of Ghana. It is one of Ghana’s well-decorated, vibrant, and attractive festivals and durbars.
