Chicago, June 18, 2023: Ghanaian immigrants across Chicagoland joined the rest of the world to honor and celebrate fathers’ sacrifice, leadership, mentorship, and notable roles over the years.

Father’s Day is observed globally on the third Sunday of June and has gradually been embraced by Ghanaians in the diaspora and Ghana.

Facilitated mainly by friends and family, Ghanaian men are recognized through giving cards, gifts, dining outs, well-wishing messages, and other forms of showing appreciation.

Churches and Organizations were not left out of the celebrations. At the Church of the Ghanaian Community of Chicago, the first Ghanaian immigrant church here, Reverend Forster Agbeyehia, of the Keyway To Heaven Ministries delivered the Father’s Day message. His message was powerful and spirit-fulfilling. His theme was “The Father’s Ardent Love.”

Using the example of the father in the parable of the prodigal son, Rev. Foster showed us how the father’s love causes him to pursue us until we repent of our ways and return to him, believing that he will forgive us of all our sins and restore us to our rightful place in the family.

He also said that God wants to celebrate our return to him and be proud of us.

There was refreshment after the service. We bring to our worldwide viewers these images.
