Nana Afua Dansoa Celebrates 65

The limelight was shined on the Queen mother of the Fante Benevolent Society and a prominent member of the Ghanaian community in Chicago, Nana Efua Dansoa, popularly known as Nanahemaa. The celebration was her 65th birthday. A lavish private “surprise” dinner to mark the milestone took place at the luxurious Granite City Food and Brewery, Naperville Illinois.
The event was graced by selected members of the community, largely members of the Fante Benevolent society and the Okuapeman Fekuw. Some of the major highlights include Nanahemaa, surrounded by family and friends delivering spectacular dance moves and cake-cutting moments. Also, there were powerful and emotional recounts of the numerous support Nanahemaa rendered to friends and family over the years . Members of the Okuapeman Fekuw presented her with a beautiful portrait of herself in full regalia.

It was an unforgettable evening full of merriment.
