Most members of the Ghanaian community in Chicago were shocked to learn on social media about the passing of Rev. Daniel Yaw Abankwa. He passed on at the Ascension Saint Joseph Hospital, Joliet, Illinois. He was 67. He was a courier for many years and later became a Reverend Minister. He was associate pastor and founding member of the ACME Vision international ministries, Chicago Illinois. Reverend Abankwa was one time the treasurer of the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago, GNC, and long-time Financial Secretary of the Council of the Ghanaian Churches, CGC.
Announcing the death on one of the major community WhatsApp platforms, the GNC President, Paa Kwasi Sam wrote ”I am saddened to act on behalf of the Abankwa family to announce to the Ghanaian community, the passing of Reverend Daniel Yaw Abankwa. He passed late last night after a long battle with illness. May his soul Rest In Peace”
