Former Ghana International, John Painstil has expressed his surprise at the level of football artistry displayed by young players in Kpando in the Volta region.
According to the former Black Stars defender, the area could be described as a football hub.
He made these remarks over the weekend at Kpando, where he had partnered the Member of Parliament for the area, Della Sowah to assist in unearthing football talents in the constituency.
The week-long football talent hunt competition, which is ongoing will ensure the selection of 20 players to form a team for the people of Kpando.
Out of this, five best players would be made to ply their trade with the John Paintsil football academy and possibly join other European clubs.
Speaking after the opening ceremony, he said, “I came to pick five best players, after six matches I had 26 talents, by the end of the knockout, I had 62 great players, clearly Kpando is indeed a hidden football hub with a lot of talents.”
John Painsil was impressed by the high interest the people of Kpando expressed in football as the stadium was packed with very high enthusiasm, adding that the talents seen there over the past four days had been amazing.
The coach for the John Paintsil Academy, Mr. Gospel Ativor, on his part said, I’m glad to have partnered Hon. Della Sowah for this football talent hunt.”
He added that the people of Kpando are blessed to have an MP who was ready to invest in this expensive game for the benefit of her people.
