A tense standoff unfolded Thursday at the headquarters of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) as Lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea, accompanied by a group of Members of Parliament, was reportedly denied entry and left waiting outside the agency’s premises. The development followed the return of Manhyia South MP, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, who had earlier been subjected to searches at both his residence and parliamentary office.

According to Deputy Attorney‑General Justice Srem‑Sai, the Manhyia South legislator is the subject of an active EOCO investigation involving allegations of financial loss, dissipation of public funds, and money laundering. The Deputy A‑G emphasized that the probe remains ongoing and that investigators are pursuing multiple leads connected to suspected irregular financial transactions.

Sources close to the scene describe a charged atmosphere as the MPs sought access to their colleague, only to be halted at the gate by EOCO security personnel. The reason for the restriction remains unclear, though officials insist that procedural protocols must be followed during active investigations.

The allegations against Baffour Awuah have not yet been proven, and EOCO has stressed that all claims remain under investigation.
