The President of OGHA, Organization of Ghanaians Abroad Mr Osei Mensah Michael has asked Ghanaians home and abroad to pray for the country at the forthcoming 64th anniversary of Ghana’s independence.
Speaking on Adom 106.3 FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr Michael Osei Mensah bemoaned the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought upon humanity, forcing Ghana to, for the first time, cancel the official parade to celebrate its independence.
He expressed that the Organization of Ghanaians Abroad has asked its members in the diaspora to observe the independence day with prayers and proposed to all Religious leaders and compatriots across the world to do same and use the day to pray for the country against the Covid-19 pandemic, immoralities, hardships, numerous challenges the country is facing and for development.
He said GHACIF, the Ghanaian Community in France Council in collaboration with the Church of Pentecost Paris district will celebrate in prayers on the 7th March 2021 at Pierrefitte near Paris.
On behalf of the Organisation, he expressed appreciation to the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Government for Free SHS and for giving freebies such as water, electricity, to support citizens in these abnormal times.
He thanked government for reducing the Covid-19 test fee at the airport from 150 USD to 50 USD for Ghana and Ecowas passport holders. He pleaded with government and the DAOOP, Diaspora Affairs at the Office Of the President, to find a way of extending that privilege to all people of Ghanaian origin buttressing that Ghana should continue opening up to all her generations abroad and ”made in Ghana Human Resources” across the planet as they continue to be the second reliable source of income for the nation through remittances, multi investments, philanthropism and patriotic services.
Mr Osei Mensah used the opportunity to encourage Ghanaians to take the COVID-19 vaccine.
On behalf of the Organisation of Ghanaians Abroad, he congratulated the President for the confirmation of his victory in the 2020 elections by the supreme court and extended, warmest greetings and best wishes to the Government, Nananom and people of Ghana as we prepare to celebrate our Independence day.
