The 37th Annual GhanaFest, scheduled for July 25, 2026, at Washington Park in Chicago, is set to become more than a cultural celebration. This year, it transforms into a historic administrative milestone for Ghanaians in the diaspora, as the National Identification Authority (NIA) brings full Ghana Card registration services directly to the festival grounds.
For the first time at GhanaFest, eligible applicants will be able to complete biometric capture and receive their Ghana Card instantly on-site , a service that has long been requested by Ghanaians living abroad. The NIA’s collaboration with the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago marks a significant step toward expanding national identification access beyond Ghana’s borders.

Applicants are required to submit their online forms on or before July 11, 2026, including payment and the mandatory interview stage. Only those who have completed the online portion will be eligible for biometric capture and instant card issuance at the event.
The NIA has emphasized that services at GhanaFest will be strictly limited to registered applicants. Officials will be present throughout the day to guide attendees through the final steps of the process, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
