The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has formally announced the end of Ghana’s World Cup group‑stage ticket support scheme, closing a short but impactful initiative that energized Ghanaian communities across Canada, the United States, and other parts of the world.
The scheme, designed as a national support intervention rather than a commercial ticket program, provided a limited number of tickets for Ghana’s three group‑stage matches. These tickets were distributed through Ghana’s diplomatic missions, recognized Ghanaian associations, supporter groups, sponsors, and other stakeholder channels.
Final Ticket Allocation Released

The Ministry published the final distribution numbers, reflecting both the scale of the effort and the intensity of demand from the diaspora:
- Ghana vs Panama: 948 tickets
- Ghana vs England: 1,000 tickets
- Ghana vs Croatia: 974 tickets
Tickets were issued electronically through FIFA’s mobile ticketing system, either directly to individuals or via approved group leaders.
High Demand, Limited Supply
In its statement, the Ministry acknowledged the disappointment of many supporters who were unable to secure tickets. Demand far exceeded the limited allocation procured for the group stage, underscoring the strong passion and unity of Ghanaian fans worldwide.
No Government Tickets Beyond Group Stage
The Ministry emphasized that the government’s support covered only the group‑stage matches. With Ghana advancing, supporters who wish to attend subsequent fixtures must purchase tickets directly through FIFA’s official platform or accredited ticketing agencies.
Commitment to Transparency
As part of its accountability measures, the Ministry announced that the full list of individuals, groups, and institutions who received tickets will be published once an appropriate format is finalized.
Appreciation to Diaspora Communities
The Ministry expressed gratitude to Ghana’s missions abroad, recognized associations, supporter groups, and stakeholders for their coordination and support. It also commended the global Ghanaian community for its unwavering pride, discipline, and unity in rallying behind the Black Stars.
