The Council of Ewe Associations of North America (CEANA) has issued a heartfelt call to the community: Ewe storytellers, singers, culture‑bearers, and tradition keepers, your children need you.
As preparations intensify for this year’s CEANA Kids Camp, organizers are seeking volunteers willing to spend one hour sharing kid‑friendly Ewe stories, folktales, songs, and cultural wisdom with the youngest members of the diaspora. The initiative is designed to strengthen cultural identity among children growing up far from their ancestral homeland.
The appeal is especially directed toward retirees, grandparents, elders, and seasoned community members, the custodians of memory whose voices carry the richness of Ewe heritage. Their participation, organizers say, is essential to ensuring that the stories, proverbs, and melodies passed down through generations do not fade with time.

“In the spirit of our 2026 theme, Preserving Culture, Inspiring Generations, we believe the work begins with our children,” said Convention Manager Abla Toffa, who is coordinating the volunteer effort. “When our elders speak, the children listen , and they inherit pride, identity, and belonging.”
Volunteers will have the opportunity to engage children in storytelling circles, song sessions, and interactive cultural moments that celebrate the beauty of Ewe tradition in a fun, age‑appropriate way.
Community members interested in volunteering are encouraged to reach out directly to the Convention Manager via call or text at 703‑791‑9987, or by email at Info@ceana2026.org.
The CEANA Kids Camp will take place during the 2026 CEANA Convention in Washington, D.C., from September 3–7, 2026.
