The Ghana Police Service has issued an official statement confirming that the Madina Divisional Command has begun investigations into the incident involving former Dome–Kwabenya MP Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo.

According to the police, preliminary findings show that on Sunday, 21st June 2026, Hon. Safo sustained a gunshot injury to her left ear while visiting her late father’s residence at Kwabenya. She later reported the matter to the Kwabenya Police Station and presented a vehicle with registration number GN 3482‑24, which, according to the police, showed visible gunshot damage.
The police statement noted:
“Preliminary investigations indicate that on Sunday, 21st June 2026, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo sustained a gunshot injury to her left ear while visiting her late father’s residence at Kwabenya. She subsequently reported the incident to the Kwabenya Police and presented a vehicle bearing registration number GN 3482‑24, which had visible gunshot damage.”
This account contrasts sharply with earlier reports carried by Ghbase News, which cited Nana Kofi Kantanka, a lawyer for the Kristo Asafo Church. According to him, Hon. Safo allegedly attempted to force her way into the premises with her vehicle at a time when a ceremony was underway to install her half‑brother, Nana Kwadwo Safo, as a leader within the church.
He claimed that after repeated warnings for her to stop hitting the gate with her car, warning shots were fired.
At this stage, the Ghana Police Service has not confirmed any of these external claims. The public is being urged to await the outcome of the official investigation.
