Bryant University has been officially selected by FIFA as the World Cup base camp for the Ghana Black Stars, placing the Rhode Island institution on the global football map as one of the premier training hubs for the expanded 48‑team tournament. With 39 teams training in the United States, seven in Mexico, and two in Canada, Ghana’s choice of Bryant underscores the university’s readiness and regional advantage.

FIFA first approached Bryant in early fall as part of its search for elite training sites. After reviewing geography, logistics, and facility standards, FIFA presented Bryant as an option to all participating nations. Ghana ultimately selected the university as its home base for the duration of the tournament.

The campus has already transitioned into full World Cup mode, implementing heightened security and meeting strict FIFA operational requirements. A major upgrade includes the installation of 90,000 square feet of new natural sod, now serving as Ghana’s primary training field. The Navigant Fieldhouse has been designated as the team’s central operations hub, housing locker rooms, training rooms, and a strength and conditioning center. University officials note that Bryant’s soccer fields, weight rooms, and recovery spaces all meet World Cup standards.

Ghana’s tournament schedule makes Bryant a strategically ideal location. The Black Stars will open in Toronto before heading to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and then to Philadelphia. With seven World Cup matches scheduled for Foxborough, the region is expected to draw significant global attention, further elevating Bryant’s visibility.

Behind the scenes, the university is preparing for the arrival of players, coaches, staff, and fans from around the world. Enhanced security, transportation coordination, and FIFA‑level logistics are already underway. In addition to hosting Ghana, Bryant will also serve as a base camp for another national team during the quarterfinals.

University leadership views this moment as a historic opportunity to expand Bryant’s global brand, strengthen international partnerships, and showcase Rhode Island on the world stage.
