Nana Efua Dansoa, the celebrated broadcast journalist, author, philanthropist, and one of the most recognizable Ghanaian media personalities of her generation, has officially confirmed her attendance and full participation in this weekend’s Asanteman Association of Chicago & Midwest Coronation of Chiefs and Queens. Her announcement has stirred genuine excitement across the Ghanaian community, not only because of her stature, but because this visit marks her first time in Chicago in thirty years since arriving in the United States.

In her message, she spoke with unmistakable warmth and anticipation, describing the upcoming ceremonies as beautiful, welcoming, and deeply cultural. She extended an open invitation to the entire community, urging all to join her for a weekend she believes will stand as a milestone in the cultural life of Ghanaians in the Midwest. She encouraged listeners and supporters to call the ticket lines, purchase their seats, and be part of a gathering that celebrates identity, heritage, and unity.

Nana Efua Dansoa will be present for both major events:
On May 23, she joins the community for the Inauguration and Enstoolment of Chiefs and Queens, a ceremony steeped in tradition, symbolism, and the regal beauty of Asante culture.

On May 24, she will attend the Grand Dinner and Fundraising Gala, an evening dedicated to community development, cultural preservation, and the strengthening of the Asanteman legacy in Chicago.

Her presence adds to an already distinguished lineup of dignitaries. Among the most prominent is Akyamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang‑Bonsu, Head of the Akwamu Division, who will attend as the official representative of Nana Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Special Guest of Honor. His participation underscores the significance of this year’s coronation and the deep ties between the Asante Kingdom and its diaspora.

The Asanteman Association of Chicago & Midwest has themed this year’s celebration “United We Stand, Together We Rise,” a fitting reflection of the community’s commitment to unity, cultural pride, and collective progress. The events will take place at:

The leadership of the Chicago Asanteman community, Nana Abayie , (Asantefuohene) and Nana Afia Durowaa Nhyira (Asantefuohemaa) , have expressed their appreciation for the overwhelming support and look forward to welcoming all guests, both local and traveling from afar.

This weekend promises to be more than a ceremony. It is a homecoming, a cultural revival, and a powerful reminder of the enduring bond between the Asante Kingdom and its sons and daughters across the world.
