Ghana’s Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister Represents President Mahama In Burkina Faso

The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts continued her official engagements in Burkina Faso on Day Two of her working visit, delivering a speech on behalf of the Government of Ghana and President John Dramani Mahama. The address was delivered before the President of Burkina Faso, Head of State H.E. Capt. Ibrahim Traoré, dignitaries, and cultural stakeholders.

The Minister described the moment as an honour, noting that she accepted the invitation with “profound respect and a deep sense of duty” on behalf of Ghana. She highlighted the leadership record of President Mahama, referencing his contributions to regional cooperation and his work across the continent. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Ghana in her capacity as Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.

In her remarks, the Minister underscored Ghana’s commitment to good neighbourliness, regional solidarity, and the shared destiny of African nations. She noted that President Mahama has consistently championed dialogue, cooperation, and unity among African states, and encouraged African leaders and citizens to uphold these values.

The Minister also commended Burkina Faso for hosting the event despite the country’s ongoing security and economic challenges. She described the gesture as a powerful message of resilience, stating that the Burkinabè people continue to stand firm in their cultural identity, which she called “a cornerstone of resistance and hope.”

Ghana’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, H.E. Kenneth Akibate, was acknowledged for his support throughout the visit. The Minister also expressed appreciation to Senior Comrade Nana Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, noting his longstanding guidance since her youth.

The Ghanaian delegation accompanying the Minister was praised for their performances and the exhibition of Ghanaian crafts and fashion, which formed part of the cultural showcase.

In a lighthearted moment that drew warm applause from the audience, the Minister concluded her remarks with a message in French, saying, “Je t’aime, Burkina Faso.”
