The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has taken the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, into custody following an operation at his home. The arrest, which occurred on Tuesday, April 28, comes in the wake of a targeted raid conducted by officials on his private residence in Kumasi last week.
While the specific nature of the allegations against the former managing director has not been formally released to the public, the agency confirmed that the arrest is a critical component of an active and ongoing investigation.
Mr. Jumah remains in the custody of the anti-graft agency as officials continue their inquiries into the matter. High-ranking sources within the investigative body have indicated that further details regarding the charges are expected to be disclosed once the preliminary phase of the probe is concluded.
